On November 3rd, 2008, our Chairman Momtazuddin Bhuiyan received
‘Order of the Rising Sun Gold and Silver Rays' decoration, which is the
second most prestigious Japanese imperial decoration awarded by
Japanese Emperor for his outstanding contribution in Japan Bangladesh
relationship in the field of business development, technical
cooperation and spreading Japanese language and culture in Bangladesh
for more than three decades.
The Order of the Rising Sun (Japanese: 旭日章, Kyokujitsu shō) is a
Japanese Order, established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji of Japan. The
Order was the first national decoration awarded by the Japanese
Government, created on April 10, 1875 by decree of the Council of
State. The badge features rays of sunlight from the rising sun. The
design of the Rising Sun symbolizes energy as powerful as the rising
sun in parallel with the "rising sun" concept of Japan ("Land of the
Rising Sun"). This honor was conferred on non-Japanese recipients
beginning in 1981. The awarding of the Order is administered by the
Decoration Bureau of Office of the Prime Minister.
Some of the other past recipients of ‘Order of the Rising Sun’
awards are: Masaru Ibuka (Founder of Sony Corporation Japan), Shoichiro
Toyoda (Former Chairman of Toyota Corporation Japan), Lee Kuan Yew
(Legendary Prime minister of Singapore) to name a few.
